Great little hidden spot you can drive right by....but don't ....

Don't let the outside scare it's warm inviting and friendly folks inside

Great prices, great diner food and hours

Don't miss it after a cold walk along the river...

1st visit and WILL be back

In the past I was always satisfied with everything here. But today it changed, we waited 11/2 hours for our meal the toast was just bread with melted butter smeared on it and the place requires a definite cleaning all over.  I don't like writing about a Resturant like this but there is a limit.

Stopped here on the weekend when the freezing wind was howling across Matsqui Prairie, glad we did!  Not much traffic through here as the highway takes most of it but it's worth the stop. Had a "real" hamburger and great onion rings, my senior friend had the grilled ham & cheese with fries and he cleaned his plate.  I used to come here forty years ago to pick up burgers on Friday nights, it's still there and its still good!

This is a small, casual coffee shop in Matsqui.  We were seated near the back of the restaurant.  There used to be an exit door at the back but the exit sign has been covered with paper and a fireplace was installed and has been vented through what used to be the door.  I'm not sure whether this would be legal or not as I did not see another exit in the restaurant.  I would think that if there was a fire, this would present a fire hazard.

Service was average and the food was meh.  I would not say that the food was even average.  My husband had a bacon and cheese omelette that came with home fries and toast.  The home fries were very soft and the bacon and cheese omelette was not well made.  I had a grilled roast beef sandwich with fries and although it was better than my husband's omelette it was just not that good.  For a little bit more money you can get far superior food at a number of other restaurants in the area.

    We would not return.

Such a hidden gem. Ugly as hell on the outside and inside to be quite frank. The service is good as long as you don't hit it at peak hours (brunch on weekends) Very cheap food for the portions you get. Homemade cooking at its finest. Corn beef hash is amazing and their hollandaise sauce for eggs benny is incomparable, I have never had sauce as good as I've had here! Forget Townhall forget Ann Marie's cafe and IHOP, come to Matsqui cafe for breakfast!!
